Arrivals and Departures

Families who live within walking distance are encouraged to use active travel, including walking or rolling (cycling, scootering, skateboarding) to and from school.

Driving To School

Parents/guardians who choose to drive their children to school are asked to consider parking a block or two away from the school and having their child walk the rest of the way. Choosing active travel can improve physical and mental health and helps students start the day alert and ready to learn. It also helps to protect the environment and reduce traffic, making school zones safer for everyone.

Drop Off, Pick Up and Parking

The safety of all students must be everyone’s first priority. Please follow the procedures below. Morning drop off is the busiest time of day on our site. The school driveway and parking lot must remain clear to support the safe movement of students and to allow access for school buses. Whenever possible, families are encouraged to identify a safe off-site drop off location and have students walk onto school property.

Please note that traffic in the school driveway moves in one direction only, from north to south. The southern entrance is designated as exit only during morning arrival. This traffic pattern supports student safety and helps reduce congestion. A School Zone Traffic Map is attached for your reference.

At the end of the school day, the front driveway is closed to regular traffic from about 2:40 to 3:15. Only school taxis and buses are to use the front driveway at the end of the day in order to create a safe place for our students with special needs. Once all the school taxis and buses leave the front driveway loop around 3:15, regular traffic may use this area.

Drop Off, Pick Up and Parking

Parking and stopping in the area surrounding the school is regulated by Town of Aurora bylaws, which are enforced during school arrival times. Blue marked areas indicate locations where parking is not permitted, but brief active drop off or pick up is allowed. Yellow marked areas indicate locations where stopping or parking is not permitted at any time, including for drop off or pick up.

There is one-way traffic on our school property. Do not make U-turns anywhere in parking lot. Making a U-turn in this area creates an unsafe condition for pedestrians and other vehicles. If you need to turn around, please pull into a parking spot and carefully back out.

Student Parking

There are parking spots for students with parking passes in the lot closest to the turf field only.  Students are not allowed to park in areas which are reserved for staff, Board vehicles, bus routes, and Visitors. Students who have been approved for a parking pass were able to purchase on School cash online. Parking permit must be displayed clearly at all time. Vehicles and contents are left at the student’s own risk. Students are not allowed to hang out or spend free time by or in parked vehicles.
