Social Sciences and Humanities (Family Studies)

Family Studies and Social Sciences courses offer students the opportunity to learn valuable life skills while exploring topics that connect directly to their daily lives and future careers. Courses such as HFN1O1 – Food and Nutrition, HFC3M1 – Food and Culture, HSP3U1 – Introduction to Anthropology, Psychology, and Sociology, and HHG4M1 – Human Development Throughout the Lifespan allow students to investigate how people think, feel, and behave, as well as how families and societies function. Students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills through hands-on experiences like cooking labs, social experiments, and research projects. Whether you’re interested in health, education, psychology, social work, or simply want to better understand yourself and others, Family Studies and Social Sciences provide engaging, practical, and meaningful learning for life beyond the classroom.

Discover the Science of Human Behaviour with IB Psychology
IB Psychology offers students an in-depth exploration of the mind and behaviour through a scientific and global lens. This course examines how biological, cognitive, and sociocultural factors influence thoughts, emotions, and actions. Students investigate real-world issues such as mental health, relationships, and social influence while developing strong research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills. Through experiments, case studies, and collaborative inquiry, learners gain a deeper understanding of themselves and others. IB Psychology encourages curiosity, empathy, and open-mindedness—qualities essential for success in university and careers in fields such as psychology, education, health care, and social sciences.
